Zach Rowe Horse Shoe Tournament
The people of Carbonear and area celebrat every Labour Day weekend with a Horse Shoe Tournament in Zach Rowe’s honour. They raised $1005 this year at the annual event and we would like to extend our sincerest appreciate to all those who contributed to the tournament.

Positively Purple Day March 2016
26 schools participated in Purple Day this year. It’s over 5000 students dressed up in Purple! Purple Day Commitment 2016
On March 26th Executive Director, Gail Dempsey, Information Officer, Gina Hartmann and Purple Day Advocate, Christine Facey were invited to the House of Assembly to hear members of Assembly discuss Epilepsy and the importance of Awareness. The Honourable Dr. John Haggie, The Honourable Andrew Parsons and the Honourable Loraine Michael spoke kindly about Purple Day. All members proudly wore a purple ribbons. Thank you to all government officials who wore purple, took to social media to expose Epilepsy NL and supported us throughout the month. Mr. Seamus O’Reagan, MP, Mr. Kevin McDonald, MP and Mrs. Gudie Hutchings, MP signed the Purple Day Commitment. The Following MHAs signed the commitment:

Zach Rowe Memorial with CeeBees Minor Hockey 2016
In February there was 16 half ice games hosted at at SW Moores Memorial stadium in Harbour Grace. 200 players, ages 5 and 6 from Harbour Grace, Whitbourne, Bay Roberts, Placentia and Mount Pearl gathered to help support Purple Day. Kids wore purple, even the hockey tape on the players’ stick were purple! The event was a huge success and all proceeds go to the Zach Rowe Scholarship fund. The event raised $248!
Paint the Town Purple 2016
Many businesses recognized Purple Day and helped raise money for Epilepsy NL, while also bringing awareness to all corners of the province. We would like to give a huge shout out to the following businesses and centres: Provincial Government Building in Pasadena, Pasadena Library, Pasadena Anglican Church, Tilton Bingo Hall, Rocket Bakery, Sobey’s Long Pond, Burin Public Library, Burin Cadets, Carbonear Mall, Torbay Scouts Troop, Rabbittown Community Centre, Orangae Garage, Dominion Bay Roberts and Kidz at Heart Day Care.
